Supervision Groups by & with Prerna

Supervision as a Pottery Studio

Supervision is like a pottery studio, where therapists shape and refine their practice over time. The process is relational—just like clay, therapy work is shaped by interactions, emotions, and external forces.

Care for you by you & others.

The Analogy - Explained

Emptying Out: Preparing the Clay

Before shaping a piece of pottery, the clay must be kneaded and prepared.

Similarly, in supervision, therapists need a space to unload, process emotions, and work through internal conflicts so that their practice remains steady.

Reflecting: Shaping & Molding the Clay

Once the clay is ready, it’s placed on the wheel and shaped through a balance of pressure and movement.

Supervision works the same way:

Relational shaping—Your insights, experiences, and the group's reflections interact to help refine your approach.

Countertransference work—Understanding how past experiences and client dynamics shape your responses.

Learning through process—The piece (your work) doesn’t have to be perfect; it evolves over time.

Refilling: Glazing & Firing

Once shaped, pottery must be glazed and fired to strengthen it.

Supervision provides:

A strengthening process—Building confidence, structure, and deeper understanding.
A reflective glaze—Seeing yourself and your work more clearly.

Durability—Preventing burnout and reinforcing boundaries.

The Finished Piece: Every Therapist is Unique

No two ceramic pieces are the same.

Therapists, too, develop their own voice, strengths, and style in practice.

Supervision isn’t about making every therapist the same—it’s about helping you craft something that’s authentically yours.

Your practice, your signature style

Supervision nurtures, but you shape the final outcome

Growth is ongoing—there’s always room for refinement

The Studio: Learning in Community

In a pottery studio, artists don’t work alone.

Group supervision mirrors this:
Learning from others’ experiences and work

Building a network of supportive colleagues

Frequently Asked Questions

It’s a supportive space where early-career mental health professionals and psychology students come together to discuss their work, learn from each other, and get guidance from an experienced supervisor. Think of it as a mix of mentorship, peer learning, and open conversation.

If you're a master’s student in psychology or a young mental health professional, this is for you! Whether you have specific questions or you're looking to understand how progress happens in sessions and in a professional's practice, this is a useful space for you!

Instead of one-on-one time with a supervisor, group supervision lets you learn from multiple perspectives while still getting expert guidance. It’s also a great way to feel less alone in your journey.

Each session is different, but typically includes:

  • A themed discussion (e.g., Resistance in Therapy, Setting Boundaries)
  • Case discussions (de-identified for confidentiality)
  • An open Q&A where you can ask anything about practice, ethics, or career growth
  • Peer support and shared experiences

Not at all! You can just listen, ask questions, or share insights. No pressure.

Ideally all therapists should be in supervision to explore their countertransference, wins & seek support. It allows you to go back to challenging work with the support of a consistent group behind you.

All groups are for 90 minutes.

Prerna runs both weekly and biweekly supervision spaces.

Yes, different groups are priced according to their structures. It's typically a monthly payment ranging from ₹3000 to ₹4600 depending on the group.

We don't record supervision sessions but group members are kind enough to catch you up!

Just show up with an open mind! If you’d like, think about any challenges or questions you want to bring. If you’re discussing a case, make sure it’s de-identified.
